Alexander McQueen Memorial Set

by auna on July 25th, 2010

McQueen

A private memorial service for Lee Alexander McQueen will take place during London Fashion Week on Monday, Sept. 20, according to a Gucci Group spokeswoman.

The service will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral here, and will be a celebration of the designer’s life and work, the spokeswoman said.

Family, friends and colleagues of the designer, who died in February, are expected to attend.

R.I.P. McQueen from your friends at Fyasko.

The Falls

Drinking at a normal bar is fun. You have no problem with that.

But sometimes you could use a bit more cutting-edge. Like a bar that feels like a woodsy 1970s drinking lodge… crossed with a Euro-glam swimming hole.

Say hello to The Falls, a new place to drink cocktails and celebrate the majesty of a good stack of lumber, now soft-open Downtown.

The latest spot from cocktail-lounge expert Michelle Marini (Lava Lounge, The Woods), this is where to go when you’re in the mood to venture Downtown, and your date or drinking buddy wants a bit of the outdoorsy vibe… without actually being outdoors.

Stepping in, you’ll see a cozy one-room space replete with rustic touches like limestone rocks, tables made out of tree stumps and an entire wall comprised of lumberjack-style logs. But before you start thinking you’ve stepped into a Wrangler commercial, you’ll be reminded of LA with glam elements like glittering copper tiles and shiny chandeliers.

Order a couple of Rustics at the bar (gin, grapefruit juice, agave nectar)—they’re unfortunately out of ginger beer, which means no Horseshoes (tequila, lime juice, ginger beer) at the moment—and don’t be surprised if you get a little hypnotized by the place’s signature feature, a soothing virtual waterfall made of cascading digital monitors.

Try not to chase it…

The Private Lounge at Drai’s Hollywood

by auna on July 19th, 2010

The Private Lounge at Drai’s

Today we come to you with big, big news about a big, big club.

It concerns a little lounge underneath, and it might just be the new toughest door in town. We’ll go ahead and show you inside—it’s called The Private Lounge at Drai’s Hollywood, and it’s now very discreetly open for your next covert Sunday night in Hollywood.

The first thing you’ll have to do is find a way inside. Instead of heading for the elevator up to Drai’s, you’ll want to seek out the door guy outside a random unmarked door on Argyle, just below Hollywood Boulevard.

You’ll step inside a dark hall, and that’s when you’ll see it: an opulent den of leather and marble that’s like a secret party room in Robert Evans’s place circa 1975.

Settle into a leather couch in the middle of it all (shouldn’t be hard, there are like 17), where you’ll summon some martinis in carafes and catch up on your neighbors’ most recent TV projects. Things might stay politely social—some numbers swapped, some cards traded—or it might turn into a wild dance-off until 3am.

For now, it’s open Sunday nights with Samantha Ronson, Steve Aoki and guest DJs like Danny Masterson providing your soundtrack. And if you happen to have known Victor Drai or Cy and Jesse Waits since middle school, that’ll help you get in.

The Private Lounge at Drai’s Hollywood - 6250 Hollywood Blvd (at Argyle) Los Angeles, CA 90028

80′s Purple on Fyasko

by auna on July 14th, 2010

80's Purple on Fyasko

“FYASKO brand clothing was founded by a group of individuals that felt style and art should be one in the same. This line of fashion forward clothing was brought about by a group of surfers, skate boarders, musicians and artists who were inspired by the high fashion in New York and the carefree lifestyle of Southern California. Fueled by the artistic street movement, this brand unites art and fashion to create clothing that was designed for men who have a casual yet trendy style. The company set out to create a brand of clothing that would cater to a large population while still staying true to its origins. It is safe to say that FYASKO has accomplished this task with its line of menswear and accessories. The brand took off upon its inception in Southern California and has not stopped growing since. FYASKO is now well known in many international markets as well as the United States. The artistry that goes into each and every piece of clothing made is one factor to the success of the company.”

Thank you 80′s Purple!
