Troy Polamalu’s Awesomeness Extends Into the Sidelines

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Troy Polamalu...and his hair

We think that even if you aren’t a Steelers’ fan, this pretty much confirms it: there’s nothing Troy Polamalu can’t do. He’s already made a case for the Steelers MVP. (Pittsburgh’s season went off the rails when Polamalu missed significant time last season; they’re 3-0 with him — and without franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger — so far in 2010.)

And apparently, he’s the best player on the field even when he’s just standing on the sidelines watching the backups put the finishing touches on the Bucs in garbage time.

Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman throws the ball away and Polamalu, gloves and helmet off, hair down and instincts taking over, stretches out to make the grab like it’s the most natural thing in the world. And then he calmly hands the football to the ball dude and resumes his position next to coaches and teammates.

YouTube Preview Image

At this point, nothing Troy does is a surprise, but perhaps the most shocking part of this video is that the crowd — mostly Steelers fans who sat through hot, humid conditions — went absolutely bonkers on a play that was logged as an incomplete pass on the stat sheet.

On another note, Head & Shoulders announced they are taking out a $1 million dollar insurance policy on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ ridiculously lush hair. Troy’s locks will be insured through Watkins Syndicate at Lloyd’s of London. Troy has not cut his hair in over seven years.

His hair also has its own website at Troyshair.com, and the rumor is it’s getting its own zipcode soon. It’s a good thing he has an NFL player’s salary; this dude must have unbelievable hair product bills. Oh wait, he’s the spokesperson for a haircare line. Nevermind

Fugees’ Wyclef Jean Hospitalized Due to Stress

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Wyclef Jean for President?

A representative for hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean says he has been hospitalized at an undisclosed location.

The 37-year-old Grammy Award winner checked into a hospital over the weekend. His representative Marian Salzman says he’s “suffering from stress and fatigue based on the grueling eight weeks he’s had.”

Jean announced a bid for Haiti’s presidency in August but ended it last week. No official reasons were given for Jean’s exclusion although he’s presumed not to have met constitutional requirements, including living in Haiti.

Jean was born on the outskirts of Haiti’s capital, Port -au-Prince.  He grew up in New York and now lives in New Jersey.

His rep says he “plans to take it easy” and will be released from the hospital this week.

Jean also is planning to release a new album.

Here’s a little reminder of why we love Wyclef…and Lauren Hill

Sexy and the City…Thank You Canada for Andi Muise

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Friends, please meet Amanda Elizabeth Janet Muise, AKA Andi Muise. The earth was blessed when this Canadian beauty was born on January 12, 1987, in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. She had dreams of becoming a model from a very young age & we think she made the right career choice…

Andi Muise

Muise was discovered at the age of 14 in a Barrie Mall by Michèle Miller, owner of the International Model Management agency, who also discovered Jessica Stam. Muise packed up and moved to New York City at the age of 17. It was not long before she was modeling for a very high profile names like Emporio Armani and FCUK.

In 2005, Andi’s worldwide profile increased exponentially due to her contribution in Victoria’s Secret’s 10th annual fashion show. She has walked in each consecutive show since, also being featured in their catalogs and as their “Fit Model” for the 2007 show.

For all of you Geography nuts, North Bay Metropolitan Area has a population of around 63,424. Apart from First Nations tribes, voyageurs and surveyors, there was little activity in the Lake Nipissing area until the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1882. It was then that John Ferguson decided that the north bay of Lake Nipissing was a promising spot for settlement. North Bay was incorporated as a town in 1891.

North Bay grew through a strong lumbering sector, mining and the three railways in the early days. The town benefited from strong community leadership. In 1919, John Ferguson was elected mayor of North Bay and continued to serve as mayor until 1922. North Bay was incorporated as a city in August 1925.

On March 17, 2007, North Bay was announced as the winner of 2007 Kraft Hockeyville contest. North Bay received $50,000 to upgrade their local arena, Memorial Gardens, and also hosted an NHL pre-season game between the New York Islanders and the Atlanta Thrashers.

Very exciting news…

Oh, but here’s a little video for you kids of Andi modeling for a British lingerie brand…ENJOY!

Gripping & Raw: Casey Affleck’s Premiere Movie, “I’m Still Here” Starring Retired Actor/Rapper, Joaquin Phoenix

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

I'm Still Here

Hmmm, where to begin?

When we first decided to go to see the sad portrait of Joaquin Phoenix, “I’m Still Here”, there was a certainty that we would witness something disturbing.  But in all honesty, we had no idea how dark the journey would be.  This documentary is a riveting insight into the ex-actor’s demise.

Late in 2008, Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix opened up on the red carpet with a bold pronouncement: “I want to take this opportunity … also to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor … I’m not doing films anymore.” He went on to say that he would be shifting his energies to building a career in music.

A seeming breakdown followed. A big beard appeared, bushy and unkempt. Disheveled hair, sticking out in every direction thanks to untended-to tangles and dreadlocks. Baffling and downright embarrassing public appearances. Assurances from Phoenix and people around him that his attempt to become a rapper are 100% sincere.

The entire spectacle was filmed by Casey Affleck, who collected the footage into the newly released film.  Charting the year-plus following the actor’s retirement, the movie stitches together a rough narrative of what ostensibly went on behind the scenes during that period. Now the movie is in theaters for a limited release, with a wide release to follow next Friday, and the reviews are pouring in. Opinions are mixed overall, but every review at least alludes to the question hanging over the film: Was this all just a big method acting experiment? Or a hoax?

Regardless, the irony is that no matter how Phoenix tries to explain that his years as a thespian were an act, he still manages to be portrayed as an artist.  This beautifully shot and tragic film is a definite must see…To decide for yourself, check out the movie’s website at www.imstillheremovie.com

And his performance at a Miami nightclub…where he decided to get into it with a heckler in the audience.  Oh Joaquin, what you won’t do for a little publicity?
