Fyasko’s ‘Beyond Sexy & the City’ Bombshell, Rosie…

GQ Magazine

Fyasko would like to introduce you to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley…You’re welcome! This English Rose was born on April 18th, 1987 in Plymouth, Devon, England. Her great-great-grandfather was politician Sir Herbert Huntington-Whiteley, 1st Baronet, and her great-grandmother was descended from Polish Jewish immigrants of the 1870s.

Victoria's Secret...and Rosie's

In 2003, while studying at Tavistock College, Huntington-Whiteley was discovered by Profile Model Management while seeking internships with several London based modelling agencies. After modelling in London for a year, Huntington-Whiteley made her Fashion Week debut at the autumn/winter 2004 shows and the following year walked for labels including Moschino, DSquared and Kenzo.

This is how you catch a cab...

She has also appeared in advertisements for Abercrombie & Fitch, Bloomingdale’s, Clinique, DKNY, French Connection, L.A.M.B., Pepe Jeans, Shiatzy Chen, Ralph Lauren, and Top Shop among others.

Classic Beauty

In 2008 she was also placed 6th on Harper’s Bazaar’s annual “Best Dressed List”. The following year Huntington-Whiteley received an Elle Style Award for 2009′s “Model of the Year”. She also starred in a provocative short film for Agent Provocateur playing a woman whose boyfriend forgets Valentine’s Day…Naughty!

Au Natural

She appeared on her first international Vogue cover, for Vogue Nippon, in May of 2005, and in 2006, the model made her Victoria’s Secret debut at the brand’s show in Los Angeles among established names including Gisele Bündchen, Karolina Kurkova and Adriana Lima.

We love Rosie...

In 2008, Huntington-Whiteley was cast by Christopher Bailey as the face of Burberry’s autumn/winter 2008 campaign with actor Sam Riley. Her first British Vogue cover, for November 2008, saw her pictured alongside Eden Clark and Jourdan Dunn in a feature celebrating British models. In late 2009, Huntington-Whiteley officially became a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

Dolce & Gabbana

Oh yeah, and Devon, England is a large county in South West England. The county is occasionally referred to as Devonshire, although that is an unofficial name, rarely used inside the county itself and often indicating a traditional or historical context. The county shares borders with Cornwall to the west and Dorset and Somerset to the east. Its south coast abuts the English Channel and its north coast the Bristol Channel. Devon is the fourth largest of the English counties and has a population of 1,141,600.

Dressed down...

There will be a geography test to follow. Let’s see who was paying attention…

Dalton Ghetti Carves Miniature Pencil Masterpieces

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Ghetti Alphabet

Brazilian born, Connecticut based, Dalton Ghetti carefully crafts the tips of pencils into amazing micro sculptures. These miniature masterpieces are a side project for the professional carpenter, who has been perfecting this art for the last 25 years. Dalton uses a razor blade, sewing needle, a sculpting knife, a steady hand and lots of patience to meticulously carve the graphite which can take anywhere between a few months to a few years. Over time he has broken many works in progress and keeps them in what he calls the cemetery collection. One of the most fascinating things about these tiny works of art is that he has never sold them, only given away to friends as gifts.

100 Bands, 12 Hours, 9 Rock Clubs, 6 Beers, 3 Pizza Slices and 1 Audible Mainframe…Sunset Strip Music Festival

Monday, August 30th, 2010

The Sunset Strip Music Festival concluded with over 12 hours of live music on Saturday, August 28th. The final celebration featured over 100 bands performing throughout the day and evening, all within three blocks of the fabulous Sunset Strip. We were lucky enough to be part of the festivities by tagging along with our sponsored band, Audible Mainframe. Holy cow, what an experience!!!

The Viper Room Media Lounge

The morning started in the Viper Room Media Lounge where 98.7FM was putting on interviews with the likes of Slash, Neon Trees, Smashing Pumpkins, Travie McCoy, Nikki Six and Semi Precious Weapons.

Travie McCoy

Billy Corgan

Audible Mainframe had a radio segment interview & acoustic performance (which of course they killed), followed up by interviews from some of the top publications like Rock.com, Young Hollywood, Neon Tommy & LA Weekly, to name a few. They were looking so sharp rocking Fyasko gear. (Thanks guys for always being a huge support!)

Next, we walked over to the West Stage to get a good spot for Slash, the 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival honoree. His recent solo record has received fantastic reviews, and with good reason. It’s terrific and showcases a wide array of talent on vocals that range from Fergie to Ozzy Osbourne. Handling vocals for this live performance was Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge.

Sweet Child O' Mine

The King of the Festival, with signature top-hat, was nothing less than outstanding this evening. We heard a selection of Guns N’ Roses material, including “Night Train”, “Rocket Queen”, and “Sweet Child O’ Mine”. We also heard the Velvet Revolver tracks “Dirty Little Thing” and “Slither” as well as the lead single off Slash’s solo record, sung by Myles Kennedy, “Back From Cali.”

Fergie with Slash

Watching Slash play the solo to “Sweet Child O’ Mine” was surreal. He nailed it and the audience of thousands went wild. After this song and a short set break, Slash was joined by Fergie for the encore, where they closed with the quintessential GNR track “Paradise City”. Ridiculous performance, all around.

Sweet Guitar Solo

After a little homage to our headbanging years, we disappeared to a little VIP section (which was surprisingly undiscovered & a sanctuary from the crowd) where we sat to eat, drink and be very merry. The AMF crew even had a little adventure on the catering cart, when they set off onto Sunset Blvd to load up their equipment for the evening’s performance at The Roxy.

Equipment? Check!

Before Audible Mainframe went on, we ran over to see the Smashing Pumpkins close out the West Stage with a show that adequately covered the band’s extensive career. Well, Billy Corgan was on his best behavior this evening. There weren’t any tongue lashings towards anybody in the crowd that we could hear and they played a good show.

Smashing Pumpkins

Say what you want about Billy Corgan, but you cannot deny the fact that Smashing Pumpkins produced some timeless music throughout their career. Billy even gave a nice tribute to The Strip towards the end of the band’s set, and thanked everyone for coming and celebrating one of the greatest live music scenes in the world.

Expo getting hyped before the show

After a massive cheer from the audience, we ran furiously to The Roxy so that the Band could set up and we could get our prime real estate for front row center. It wasn’t long before the club filled up and we were shoulder-to-shoulder with the rest of Audible Mainframe’s fans.

A Die Hard Fan

AMF gave off a high energy performance with body-moving beats, intelligent lyrics and an incredible stage presence. Its obvious that there is an undeniable bond between the bandmates. They even received compliments from the headlining acts, Zen Robbi & Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds. Can we say collaboration??

My Jungle Love

After the band finished their set and was met with rowdy applause, we walked back out into the early morning with huge smiles on our faces. The Sunset Strip was already my favorite part of Los Angeles, but this festival made me love it even more. We defy anyone to name a better music scene, at least one that is condensed along just a few city blocks, like The Strip. Los Angeles gets a lot of flack, and sometimes for the right reasons, but they get huge points here. There really isn’t anyplace like the Sunset Strip in the entire world.

Helping you visit Mexico without the senseless holdups, Te’Kila ‘Barstaurant’ in Hollywood

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Te'kila Bar

It’s a pain to go to Mexico: the traffic is terrible, you’ll most likely end up kidnapped or dead, and worst of all, the traffic is terrible.

Te’kila was designed by the Goal and Kitchen 24 guy to resemble an old-school Mexican bar, w/ dangling candelabras, aged-wood paneling, and a plethora of paintings of south-of-the-border gangsters, most of who’re still confused about what exactly a plethora is. In terms of their namesake booze, they’ve got over 100 varieties, most of which are displayed above a gated window and in a floor-to-ceiling mirrored display behind the bar, where they’re also serving up specialty drinks including house margaritas packed w/ fruit (blackberries, watermelon, mango, etc) and ‘tails like the Casadores Blanco/ cucumber/ lemon/ agave/ St Germain/ tabasco “Ay Caramba”; the rum/ lime/ mint/ pineapple “Mexican Mojito”; and the Sombra Mezcal/ lime/ agave nectar/ amaretto “Smoking Gun,” also the name of a firearm that can only be used outside in California.

Grubwise, they’re slinging Mexican breakfast/lunch/dinner including the Borracho Burrito (scrambled egg, chorizo, jalapeno, mozzarella, black beans, roast potato); applewood bacon-wrapped camarones (shrimp), and the jalapeno/ cheddar/ cilantro/ crema/ refried bean/ salsa roja “Nachos Explosion,” which could chip the paint, or bean someone, especially if they had beef. Cheesy, right?

In addition, they’ve also got a monster surf-and-turf burrito stuffed w/ both lobster and filet mignon and accompanied by a shot of TBA premium tequila, which they call the “Millionaires Burrito,” and is on sale for $300, also the price you’ll have to pay in Mexico to gain your release… from traffic school. Ole!

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

One of Fyasko’s favorite friends, skater Bruno Vega, bombed the streets with his crew this past week to check out some of the new, old & undiscovered skate spots that the great city of LA has to offer.

Bombing LA

Done & Done

We gotta throw out some love & respect to Bruno for always showing Fyasko support by rocking our gear. Thanks for helping to spread the word mang!!!!!

During their mission, they had to hit up one the newer spots with the precarious name, Stoner Plaza. It’s located a few blocks south, and one west, of the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Barrington Avenue. California Skateparks worked with professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and the Rob Dyrdek Foundation to help provide the City of Los Angeles with their 2nd Safe Spot, Skate Spot, the other being Lafayette Park. The 26, 500 sq. ft. skate plaza offers granite ledges, colored concrete, along with real street features that are tactfully integrated into the park.

Some little facts about Stephen “tWitch” Boss:

He’s a freestyle dancer from Montgomery, Alabama, who attended Chapman University. He is a huge comic book fan, with his favorite hero being Superman. Boss spells his name with a capital ‘W’ and not a capital ‘t’. His name is an acronym, that can mean many things, such as: t.W.i.t.c.h = to Win i trustingly choose humility.

His first appeared on television when he placed second on Star Search behind America’s Best Dance Crew group Super Crew’s “Do Knock”. He was a contestant on The Wade Robson Project, where he came in third place. Boss also choreographed dances for Korean artists, such as Se7en. While his breakout performances occurred on So You Think You Can Dance, he previously appeared as a dancer in Hairspray. He can be seen in the dance number at the platter party and in “You Can’t Stop the Beat”.

Boss auditioned for the third season, and made it through ‘Vegas Week’ but was beaten out by Hokuto “Hok” Konishi when it came to getting a placing in the Top 20. Boss returned in Season 4 made it all the way to the finale, placing second overall. After the show, Boss went on to teach at South County Classical Ballet for just over a year now with fellow finalist Katee Shean.

Flo Rida and tWitch

On July 30, 2009, Boss returned to So You Think You Can Dance with fellow Season 4 contestant Katee Shean to perform their Emmy-nominated piece “Mercy”, choreographed by Mia Michaels.

Boss landed the role of Jason in Step Up 3D (August 6, 2010 release date) and one of the leads, Taz, in Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming (Fall 2010). He’s also been cast as Marcel X in the upcoming superhero movie Perfectus, and will later star in the movie Ushers. He is managed by Nelson Diaz of Diaz Management Group (dance representation is MSA).

Not only has tWitch been selected as one of the 12 “All Stars” for the 7th season of So You Think You Can Dance, but he has a clothing line, ‘tWitch Boss Clothing’, set to be released in late Summer 2010.

He also owns a Jack Russel mix named ‘Krypto’.

Fyasko Sponsors Boston Band, Audible Mainframe

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

AMF looking sharp in Fyasko

August 12th, 2010 (ROYAL PROPAGANDA PUBLIC RELATIONS) — [LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA] Orange County-based clothing brand FYASKO (WWW.FYASKO.COM) has just taken their art and music involvement to the next level when they announced their sponsored partnership with Boston’s own six-piece band, AUDIBLE MAINFRAME (WWW.THEAUDIBLEMAINFRAME.COM), who deliver their own unique style of ‘Future Throwback Hip-Hop’. The alliance comes at an exciting time for both, whereby the Band has an unbelievable summer line-up of performances, and the Fashion Brand is launching their new fall collection, alongside multiple collaboration projects and limited edition releases.

Unloading at the Maloof Money Cup

Fyasko was founded by a group of individuals that felt style and art should be one in the same. This line of fashion-forward clothing was brought about by a group of surfers, skateboarders, musicians and artists who were inspired by the high fashion cities of Tokyo, Milan & New York, not to mention, the carefree lifestyle of Southern California. Fueled by the street movement, this brand unites art and fashion to create clothing that was designed for men who have a casual and progressive thinking style; those who live their life outside the trends. Inline with this ethos, the Brand looks to sponsor artists, DJs, athletes and musicians who can raise awareness and exposure by providing product, branding, financing, event collaborations, creative projects and ongoing retail and merchandising opportunities.

AMF has swag

With four years in Los Angeles under their belt and numerous awards and accolades, including winning Airwalk’s Unsigned Hero Contest, Audible Mainframe (AMF) continues to search for ways to spread the message that has gotten them dubbed the “faces and souls of this generation”. Comprised of an Emcee, DJ, guitarist, bassist, drummer and even a keyboard player who doubles as a trumpeter, they have been compared to the likes of legacy artists such as The Roots, Rage Against the Machine, De La Soul and The Pharcyde. AMF is set to play gigs all up and down the West Coast, including Sounds of Change at the House of Blues, The Maloof Money Cup, Sunset Strip Music Festival & even an afterparty event for top fashion tradeshow, Agenda, where Fyasko exhibits twice a year.

Exposition & Special Blend

Sales and Marketing Manager, Mike Murphy states “Fyasko is a company turning its back to the mainstream and embracing the concept of wearing your canvas. We are ambassadors of the artistic street movement. We support the collaboration of creativity and style.” With a mutual concern for art, music, fashion and social consciousness, the synergy is undeniable between these two forces. Be on the look out for upcoming projects such as the Fyasko / Audible Mainframe collectible tee…
